Shift day care

Shift day care is day care that is open outside regular hours (usually 6:30 am-5 pm on weekdays, 6 am-6 pm subject to separate agreement). Shift day care is not within the scope of the subjective right to day care.

The city arranges shift day care to enable the parents´ regular shift work or full-time studies. The child can always be in day care when both guardians/the guardian are working and for the time parents are sleeping after a night shift. If the need for shift day care ends, a day care place in another unit will be arranged for the child.

Shift day care is arranged solely on the basis of day care times reported in advance.
