24-hour care

24-hour care includes intensive assisted housing and homes for the elderly. 24-hour care can be short-term, periodic or long-term in nature. The same units can house both short and long-term clients. The care environment also takes the needs of people with memory disorders into consideration. The need for services and care are assessed on an individual basis, with resident selections made on the basis of an assessment of the intensity of care and in the order of urgency.

Long-term institutional care is provided for people for whom the required level of 24-hour care can no longer be arranged at home or in assisted housing supplemented by support services.
