Family caregiver careRelatives or other people close to the client can care for an elderly person at home. In such cases, the city can pay this person a caregiver allowance if he/she meets the requirements for receiving caregiver allowance. The size of the allowance is determined on the basis of the elderly person´s need for care and the level of commitment that the care requires. The prerequisite for receiving a family caregiver allowance is a visit by an employee of family caregiving to assess the need for care and a contract between the caregiver and the city. The city can arrange support services to supplement family caregiving.
