Two important roads went through the Salo region, and these roads have been travelled by kings and peasants. The King´s Road, also known as the Coastal Route, was probably at its busiest in 1700s, when it was part of the postal route between Stockholm and St. Petersburg. The Ox Road of Häme links Turku with Hämeenlinna and is one of Finland´s oldest historical roads. The Salo region is also the site of Hiidentie road, which follows the reaches of the river Uskelanjoki River as it runs from Salo to Somero via the Pertteli Church. This medieval, possibly even Iron Age, road mainly follows its original lines and is believed to have connected King´s Road and the Ox Road of Häme. Most popular attractions and destinations in 2008:
