Tools for Online Music Search

The Salomo online database will help you to get started. Sometimes, the Salo library collection is not enough, and you need extra information. Here are some online tools to help you further.

Databases

ARSCA
ARSCA is a common database maintained by the art university libraries in Finland.

LAURA
Laura is a text database, developed and maintained by the Sibelius Academy, for songs and songs translated into Finnish. In the database, the original song lyrics and their Finnish translations can be found as full texts.

RAITA
Raita is a database for digitised Finnish recordings.
You can listen to the earliest Finnish recordings for free, and it also includes information on digitised recordings that are still under copyright.

Data Banks

ALL MUSIC GUIDE
All Music Guide is a large database of popular music containing albums, titles, artists´ biographies and information about musicians. You can search the database by artist, name of the album or music style.

GROVE MUSIC
Grove Music Online is a database that consists of reference books in electronic format: New Grove Dictionary of Music and Musicians, New Grove Dictionary of Opera, and New Grove Dictionary of Jazz. Grove Online also includes pictures, sound samples and links to other music sites in the internet. You can only use Grove Music Online on the library´s computers.
