Emergency situations and accident and emergency services

Accident and emergency services (A&E) are provided when rapid help is needed.

Patients are treated in A&E according to a health care professional´s urgency assessment, which is based on nationally standardised, medically-based criteria.

The initial assessment of the need for treatment is made over the phone.

During weekday working hours (Mon-Thurs 8am-4pm and Fri 8am-3pm) patients requiring urgent treatment are taken care of primarily in the local health centres subject to appointment. Outside of these hours, treatment is provided at the A&E department of Salo Hospital´s First Aid Polyclinic. The health centre´s on-call service ends at 10pm.

Those who have suddenly fallen ill and require an ambulance are treated at all times in the A&E department of Salo Hospital´s First Aid Polyclinic.
